Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for MEP Accounts
MOSIS is committed to supporting educational institutions in the
development of instructional and research programs in integrated
circuits within their engineering departments.
The MEP participation has grown dramatically, along with a large rise
in demand for answering questions from students.
This increased demand for support of MEP students has diminished our
ability to provide full support to our commercial customers. We cannot
allow no-cost and low-cost MEP-supported design fabrication to
jeopardize our ability to serve our paying commercial customers who
ultimately make it possible for MOSIS to provide an educational
service.
The vast majority of the questions asked by students could have been
answered by carefully reviewing material on the MOSIS web site, or by
carefully reading the foundry design rule documents.
MOSIS is requesting the help of universities participating in the MEP
supported fabrication to mitigate the greatly increased demand for
individual support services from MOSIS by students.
Establish a TPOC
Designate a permanent technical staff member within your department to
become the MOSIS Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for all students.
In cases where a university department has multiple MEP accounts, then
a single TPOC can be designated for the entire department.
Duties of TPOC
This TPOC person should become familiar with the MOSIS web site,
submission procedures, and vendor documents so this person can answer
student questions or can direct students to the appropriate place to
find answers.
Only the account liaison or TPOC may contact MOSIS Support when
available documentation (either Web, MOSIS, or foundry) does not
provide the answer to a question. All inquiries to MOSIS must be
directed to support@mosis.com
and must include the MEP account number in the inquiry. Direct
inquiries to individual MOSIS staff members by the students will not
receive a response.
